I have a strong passion for surgical nursing and I'm wanting to learn new skills and expertise across diverse areas of healthcare. • August- Transition Placement: Radiology Department: North Shore Hospital (9 weeks) Present Skills developed: Handovers given to transit nurses and taking handovers, removal of IV line, Preparing IV medications for procedures and taking constant Observations during major biopsy’s, flushing IV lines, PICC lines, Mid lines and Power ports for CT scans, and teaching patients on how to care for their wounds after a biopsy as an outpatient.
• May-June 2021 Outpatients Department: North Shore Hospital (3 weeks) Skills: Completing wound dressings, Removing sutures and staples, inserting a indwelling catheter, using a ultrasound on a patients bladder, providing emotional support for outpatients during appointments.
• March-April 2021 Middlemore Hospital: General Surgical Ward 34 North (5 weeks) Skills: administration of oral and IV medications, assessing chest drains and documenting in notes, removing indwelling catheters for females, assessing and monitoring vital signs, giving updates on my patients in daily huddles, taking and receiving handovers, taking on a patient load of three to four patients, and monitoring and assessing vital signs.
• November 2020 Lady Allum Retirement Village (3 weeks) Skills: Administering subcutaneous injections, administration of oral medications, taking monthly vital signs for residents, completing wound cares, assisting with cares using sliding sheets and the hoist, and completing handover for thirty residents.
• August-September 2020 Mason Clinic: Tane Whakapiripiri Rehab Unit (4 weeks) Skills: building therapeutic relationships with clients, completing mental states for clients, attending and participating in group building exercises, administrating oral medications, completing handovers and completing notes daily.
• June-July 2020 Auckland City Hospital: General Medical Ward 65 (2 weeks) Skills: taking blood glucose levels, taking on a patient load of three patients, completing wound cares, administering oral medications and preparing IV Medications, and completing vital signs four hourly.
• April-May 2019 Aria Gardens Retirement Village (2 weeks) Skills: Building therapeutic relationships with residents and interprofessional skills, completing basic cares, preparing thickened fluids for residents and assisting at meal times.

North Shore Hospital Food Service Associate & Menu Processor: 22 September 2015 – 2022. Responsibilities: Customer service, beverage rounds for patients, attending to patient allergies and diet codes, admin work, including taking phone calls, faxes and emails from registered nurses and other healthcare professionals.
