Since one of the worst Covid years I have been working for this witloof grower. It was at the time of Covid that this farmer did not have the staff needed to harvest his pumpkins so I was offered a job and I took it.
Peter is a witloof grower but does do other crops on a seasonal basis on the side, of his main business of growing witloof.
During my years of schooling I did around four hours a week on a Saturday morning.
I saw this job as a way I can earn some money for savings and help him and his young family.
I grow up on this dairy farm and am now working on it as a part time job. This business is family owned. I work the most hours through Autumn and Spring, our calving seasons.
I have always loved to spend time with the animals. To keep the animals healthy and strong is always my challenge.
Through out the school holidays in 2023 I have spent 24 hours doing work experience for Keinzley Agvet in Carterton with a couple of experienced vets.
