Broadcasting and journalism are part of my DNA. I have been the co-host of The Detail, an award-winning daily news and current affairs podcast on RNZ and Newsroom, for the past two years, which followed 23 years at Three, where I worked in every bureau, on every show and platform - as a correspondent, presenter, producer, bureau chief, editor and mentor, winning both the National News and National Sports Journalist of the Year Awards. I ran the Australian Bureau for three years, then set up the Pacific correspondent desk, covering everything from natural disasters and government elections to major sports events and arts festivals.
Before Three, I was a print journalist at The Gisborne Herald and the drive-time radio announcer at 2ZG.
I thrive on covering diverse topics and events, in "live" and developing environments, and I am highly skilled in conducting compelling, in-depth interviews, with a proven ability to build rapport, ask incisive questions and draw out insightful, revealing and engaging responses.
Conducted in-depth interviews for up to three 22-minute podcasts a week, covering politics, sport, arts, local government, environment, royals and crime.
Delivered award-winning programming to audience members by thoroughly researching events, guests, and programs.
Researched, scripted, edited and produced each podcast.
Wrote 1000-word news features to accompany the podcast, along with a promo for RNZ and a social media video.
