Fergus, a start-up SaaS company established in 2011 by our Founder, has rapidly evolved into a Scale-up business with Series B investment. Operating within the dynamic tech industry, we thrive in an agile environment that embraces constant change. Throughout my tenure, I have played a pivotal role in preserving our unique culture amidst significant growth.

What a typical day in this role looks like:

  • Currently managing the entire recruitment cycle for multiple offices across NZ, AU, and UK by handling advertising strategies, exploring diverse channels to source qualified candidates, conducting thorough screenings and interviews sessions along with due diligence procedures and remuneration negotiations.
  • Fergus had a diverse range of roles including software engineers, marketing specialists, sales professionals, team leads, product designers/managers, and customer success/support specialists.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Interview coaching, candidate recommendations, assisting with decisions
  • Managing the staff recognition program to acknowledge and reward employees' exceptional contributions.
  • Managing NZ Immigration Accreditation responsibilities to ensure we continue to hold AEWV accreditation.
  • Constantly updating onboarding program to streamline the process and create a new-hire friendly onboarding to Fergus.
  • Community engagement - participating in AUT events and providing interview training for students. Supported the University of Auckland's Women in Tech initiative as key sponsors and event guests.
  • Managed responsibilities and structure of Annual Internship Program.
  • Always streamlining talent pipelines for future use.
  • Provided support to the partnerships team during the establishment of this function.

This was a job-share role which was an experiment for ASB at the time. My work partner and I were successful and the framework was shortly implemented throughout ASB.

  • Worked closely with the TA to take on various roles within the team's portfolio.
  • Client services, finance, debt operations, call centre services.
  • Multiple stakeholders within the Operations Management business unit - had to build rapport quickly.
  • Implemented campaign strategies that resulted in improved TTCs, through thorough briefings and efficient interview processes.
  • Understood the unique requirements of the various teams within the business unit and created processes to suit.

Recruitment Consultant - Heavy Products

RFL: I was offered a job-share role in the city which was closer to home, but I also wanted to experience working within the Finance industry
