Heart Health Advocate

  • Lead, coordinate and deliver initiatives/events to support people living with heart disease and their whanau
  • Building strong relationships in the community supporting and rehabilitate people who have heart disease

Offshore Senior Medic

PRIVATE 70 metre YACHT

  • Set up hospital on this new build yacht, as well as implement policies and working procedures and ensure these are strictly adhered to
  • Manage the recruitment, induction and training of medical staff
  • This includes training in first aid and evacuation as well as in what action to take during helicopter crashes and dive emergencies
  • As sole Senior Medic, maintain responsibility for the primary health and wellbeing of 80+ crew and guests of multiple ethnic backgrounds
  • Manage relevant administrative tasks and the day to day running of the onboard hospital
  • Maintain accurate records of all inventories, perform regular stocktakes and reorder when necessary
  • Participate in both internal and external audits
  • Implement and facilitate an 80 crew vaccination and drug testing schedule
  • Successfully implemented a comprehensive vaccination schedule for 80+ crew as a preventative measure against communicable diseases
  • Answered a Mayday call which resulted in successfully saving a seafarer’s life by evacuating him, providing emergency medical assistance, organising the patient to be airlifted to the nearest hospital and staying with the patient until handover to a competent doctor
  • Accuracy was paramount because, if an audit revealed there was as little as one bandage missing, the yacht would be docked and millions of dollars in potential profit lost for the owner
  • Developed strong working relationships with the owner and guests, working well within a close knit team as well as independently when required.
