Summary

I am a Senior Nurse who practices safely, is trustworthy and compassionate. I display empathy for my clients and have outstanding communication skills.

I believe in using a holistic approach to nursing care to empower the client and their family, and make their experience as positive as possible.

I am told by clients and staff that I am caring and compassionate, which I take as a key measure of my personal performance and regard this particular attribute as one of my strengths. I am also valued by my peers who respect the fact that I will work alongside them day & night to achieve positive outcomes for our clients and their families.

I have high expectations re the delivery of the care our clients receive and I’m constantly looking at Quality Improvements to improve our benchmark. I like to do a job right and then keep pushing the boundaries so that I am working within a centre of excellence.

I am culturally sensitive and work hard to develop and display a practice which is balanced with the mind, body and spirit while encapsulating the principles of the Treat of Waitangi. In New Zealand I believe we are fortunate to have a diverse ethnic nation which enriches our nursing practice.

I find nursing to be a challenging and rewarding career, as the health care environment at large is changing at an unprecedented pace. To thrive as a profession, I believe that nurses must not only keep up with, but set the pace for the future of health care. Nurses can achieve this by participating in ongoing education, and being active in policy formation.

I enjoy applying my life experiences and academic learnings in a nursing context, and aim to make a positive contribution to an organisation that shares similar values to my own. My intention is to continue ahead studying to complete my Masters Degree. and work as a Nurse Practitioner. I believe our society needs more specialised nurses to improve the health outcomes and well-being of our communities with the challenging environment we live in today.
