  • My role is to work across the organisation in a collaborative manner to shape and guide people leaders to increase kaimahi/staff engagement, build capability at all levels and drive business outcomes.

  • Key achievements:
  • Implemented an online performance management and developing planning tool replacing an outdated paper based system for 150 leaders. This will be expanded to over 1000 people in FY27.
  • Increased senior leadership accountability for kaimahi/staff engagement results by active engagement and support of business planning.
  • Built cross organisational groups to collaborate on key people led initiatives to remove silos and increase one way of working in a complex environment.
  • Developed and implemented additional leadership capability activities for tier 2 – 5.
  • Increased kaimahi/staff connections and celebrations across 38 locations to build connection points for leaders to engage with front line teams.
  • Driven the internal communications plan alongside the marketing team to increase knowledge sharing.
  • Represented NZHG in the review of vocational education, including a meeting with the Minister of Vocational Education, Penny Simmonds.
  • Lead the sector wide RFP to the Workforce Future Fund to be successful in a three-year plan to gain funding to reduce musculoskeletal injuries.

  • This role was accountable for the merging of two training/OD teams when HealthCare NZ and Geneva Health merged its shared service functions under NZHG. I also led the commercialization of MySkill, the NZQA private training establishment to offset internal training costs.
  • Key achievements:
  • During a period of turbulent change, successfully implemented a new operating model to drive consistency.
  • Collaborated across the business to develop NZHG wide training policies.
  • Merged two learning management systems to deliver a more consistent learner experience, built a singular way of working and removed duplicate costs.
  • Successfully negotiated commercial agreements which reduced general training costs over several years.
  • During COVID-19 implemented (at speed) targeted eLearning on infection control, donning and doffing to keep community health workers safe.
  • Identified and successfully negotiated long-term revenue generating opportunities to offset internal training costs.
