Bailey O'Connor

This is a full-time position working on a cattle farm. Going into this role I was skeptical as I hadn't had

any experience with livestock but as with every new challenge, I went in with an open mind and ready

to give it my all. Since then I have learned many things including working with heavy machinery, working

at heights in addition to working with livestock and most importantly a responsibility to the work both

on and off the clock.

• While working the winery in NSW to help them get through the busy season of crushing the grapes and turning it into wine.
• This work was intense as it required precision, time management and dedication as we worked everyday, 8 hour shifts for 12 weeks straight.
• Managing and operating drainers and pressers.
• Doing additives such as tartaric acid, activated carbon, bentonite, PVPP, PMS etc.
• Jetting and emptying tanks up to 500,000 litres.
• Plenty of experience operating mono-pumps.
• Tractor and trailer driving.
• Cleaning tanks with Caustic.

• Gained diverse experience in farm work across ginger, apples, avocados, bananas, garlic, yakons, mangoes, limes, and oranges, focusing on picking and packing.
• Picked fruits and vegetables from various crops.
• Packed harvested products for distribution.
• Followed seasonal harvests down east coast, assisting operations at 10 different farms.
• Maintaining a high level of food health and safety.
• Demonstrated reliability by responding to on-call requests for farm tasks.
• I really enjoy farm work as the idea of just getting stuck in and getting the job done.
• Pushing through and getting stuck into work.

• After leaving The Rutherford due to lack of guests and slow work I moved back to Countdown to work full time as a Produce Supervisor.
• Managed a small team daily, maintained store cleanliness, and ensured fruits and vegetables met health and safety standards.
• In addition, making sure stock is correct, rosters made, correct tickets and pricing in the store for customers and arranging new and old stock daily.
• This role taught me responsibility, how to lend a team, initiative and time management.
• Managed administrative tasks, including creating staff rosters and conducting stock takes.
• Deep cleaning and maintaining a high level of health and safety.

• Provided bartending, waiting, and kitchen support at Rutherford restaurant.
• Supervised over 300 events, coordinating staff and resources to maintain seamless operations.
• Maintained cleanliness and organization in guest rooms and public areas.
• Assisted guests with check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
• Responded promptly to guest inquiries and requests, ensuring satisfaction.

• During my time working at Copthorne I worked as a waiter/bartender where I gained a lot of first hand experience making cocktails, serving customers, practicing proper health and safety and working in an environment that relies on teamwork, communication and time management.
• Conducted regular inventory checks to ensure stock availability at the bar.
• Processing and keeping track of payments.
• Promoted premium drink options to enhance customer experience and increase sales.
• Most importantly making sure guests remain safe and don't get overly intoxicated.

• As a checkout operator, it allowed me to practice and perfect my customer service skill while working with customers and my team in addition to working at a fast but efficient pace.
• In addition I helped out the Seafood department as they were low on staff and need assistance while looking for a replacement which taught me food health and safety.

• I started working full time right after leaving school after I received my Level 2 NCEA half-way through the year with no hesitation.
• My job at countdown was to pack orders for customers who have ordered online, during which I became one of the fastest packers in our team.
• My hours were 5.30 AM to 2.30 PM Sunday to Thursday which was fine with me as I am a very keen worker.
