Accomplishments

  • In 1999, my eldest son, Sean, injured his ankle playing rugby for Canterbury against Waikato in the NPC semifinal I had my Deer farm in Oxford and had been selling my Deer Velvet to Youn Lee of National Deer Horn Ltd since going into Deer Farming. I was in the factory with my 1999 harvest, and I told Youn about Sean's injury. Youn gave me four bottles of deer velvet capsules for Sean to take after the operation. Sean had the operation and followed Youn's instructions, taking two capsules daily The recovery time was supposed to be 16 weeks. After 12 weeks, Sean was back training with the Crusaders, and in week 14, played the preseason game for the Crusaders against the Queensland Reds in Timaru But the most remarkable change was Sean's psoriasis, which he had from childhood completely disappeared. As a result of this, I retired from my seagoing career and started my Adeerco Natural Health Ltd marketing business. Almost 25 years later, I now have an international value-added deer velvet business, marketing mainly into the United States of America, and the holistic veterinary market. The company only sells to veterinarians and not to the general public. I have supported the American Holistic Veterinarian Group (AHVMA) and also the American Acupuncture Veterinarian Group (AAVA), and exhibit in the USA at their conferences yearly In September, I am exhibiting at the AHVMA Conference in West Palm Beach, Florida. This is the AHVMA's 40th anniversary (ahvma.org), and the keynote speaker, Dr. P. J. Broadfoot is a client, and she and I formulated our current product range . On the current AHVMA Council of Elders, I have numerous clients, including Dr. Cynthia Maro, Dr. Judith Shoemaker, Dr. Linda Stern, and Dr. Jean Hollenstien. In 2024 the AHVMA Conference was held in Reno Nevada and Adeerco Natural Health sponsored the Celebration of Life for Dr Carvel Tiekert the founder of the AHVMA in 1985. Adeerco has a significant seven-figure turnover and is realizing around NZ$1,800 per kilo, while the producers are being paid around NZ$80 to NZ$100. Adeerco also custom brands a range of New Zealand Deer Velvet products for Dr Judy Morgan (drjudymorgan.com) selling an average of 480 bottles per week to Dr Judy alone.
