A hardworker with an enthusiasm to support the Agribusiness sector and whēnua Maori within Tairāwhiti. A knowledgeable understanding of the Treaty Partnership, iwi and whēnua space. Helping to shape more collaborative working relationships across Agribusiness, regional stakeholders and cross sector agencies is an interest I have, encouraging a mahitahi approach striving to raise and enhance prosperity on our whēnua and respecting the essence of our wai for us all.

  • Advocate for the protection of mana whēnua rights and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with GDC to ensure iwi relations are upheld as part of Government reforms and initiatives.
  • Inform iwi, hapū and whānau of collaborative outcomes that impact beneficiaries.
  • Present a Historical Research to build understanding and capacity for Maraetaha Inc, Ngāi Tāmanuhiri and GDC.

Waingake and Pamoa Ngāhere Ora Transformation Program

  • Facilitate negotiations with the Gisborne District Council on behalf of Maraetaha Incorporated to establish an MOU.
  • Collaborate with the GDC and the Department of Conservation to deliver the Waingake Ngāhere Transformation Project returning 1400ha of exotic pines to indigenous native forest.
  • Utilise mātauranga māori to engage and iwi, hapu and whānau to encourage cultural, social, economic and ecological restoration of whenua, wai and taiao.
