I oversee clinical governance at WFA, responsibilities include:

• Governance framework – Three years ago I established and now chair and facilitate the weekly Medical Advisory Council (MAC) to provide governance over key clinical decisions and clinical direction.
• Reporting - Lead reporting to WFA Clinical Governance Committee (CGC - board sub-committee) Adopted HQSC Clinical Governance Framework to help guide the organisation
• Clinical Risk Management – Identify and prioritise clinical risks and ensure plans to mitigate risk are effective. Audits provide assurance that controls are effective
• Clinical Audit - Produce and implement annual audit plan and manage frontline audit team
• Policy and Procedure development - I produced and implemented the Infection Prevention and Control and medications management framework and continue to oversee audits required for legislative compliance

I worked for my own company providing clinical governance services to a clinical call centre and out of hours GP provider. Responsibilities:

• Investigating adverse events to produce root cause analysis reports, applied effective time management techniques to meet tight deadlines.
• Clinical telephone triage auditing
• Completed audit of a GP surgeries same day/urgent care workload
• Managed time efficiently in order to complete all tasks within deadlines.

I was the clinical lead with overall responsibility for delivering a clinically safe and effective service. Responsibilities:

• Clinical Leadership , line management and support to telephone triage paramedics and nurses. Promoted high morale and staff retention through dynamic communication, prompt problem resolution, proactive supervisory practices and facilitation of positive work environment. Implemented new policies and educated staff on changes.
• Clinical Governance – lead on patient safety, risk management, annual audit planning, medicines management and quality improvement work. Identified opportunities to improve clinical practices, devised strategies and implemented plans to increase patient care standards and enhance operational procedures.
• Liaison with commissioners and contract management - Report to and attend clinical quality and contract performance meetings with commissioners.
