In my role as a Dispatch Operator, I gained broad experience across multiple warehouse departments, moving between the pre-pick area, pallet yard, compounds, and inwards goods within my first year. My work included picking truck orders, repairing and grading pallets, unloading pallet return trucks, preparing and wrapping outbound orders, and operating a reach truck to organise freight for dispatch. In the inwards goods team, I support container operations by preparing flat racks, loading containers destined for the Pacific Islands, devanning containers from Australia, and sorting raw materials used in GIB board production. I regularly work within teams of 4–8 people and have become a reliable floater across departments, stepping in where needed, primarily in the pallet yard and inwards goods, but also supporting pre-pick and compounds during low staff periods. This has strengthened my adaptability, teamwork, and understanding of end-to-end warehouse operations.

Before beginning my Level 3 Pre-Policing course at Toi Ohomai, I spent a brief period working in the pre-pick department at GIB, where I assisted with preparing orders, organising materials, and supporting workflow efficiency within the warehouse. This role strengthened my reliability, teamwork, and attention to detail, and it gave me valuable experience in a fast-paced environment before I committed to pursuing my policing studies.

During the 2024 kiwifruit season at DMS, I worked as a forklift operator on night shift, ensuring the continuous flow of packaging and materials across the site to keep the packhouse running efficiently. My role involved delivering packaging to multiple lines, maintaining stock levels, and responding quickly to production needs to prevent downtime. Working in a fast-paced seasonal environment strengthened my ability to operate safely under pressure, manage time effectively, and support a large team during peak operational periods.

Before the 2024 kiwifruit season, I worked as a tyre fitter in a team of five, carrying out tyre changes, repairs, and maintenance across a range of vehicles. This role required strong teamwork, attention to detail, and a focus on safety while working efficiently to meet daily workloads. The experience strengthened my practical skills and reliability during a period of temporary employment leading into the kiwifruit season.

At AJ Hackett Bungy, I worked as a Jump Operator, helping to run the bungy and zip ride attractions while a manager oversaw the day’s operations. I carried out safety checks, prepared customers for their jump or ride, and followed strict procedures to ensure every experience was both safe and enjoyable. I also assisted with basic equipment maintenance and supported the smooth running of daily activities. This role strengthened my communication skills, situational awareness, and ability to perform confidently in a high-risk, customer-focused environment.
