Having transitioned from the role of Electrical Supervisor to Electrical Site Manager, my responsibilities have evolved towards overseeing the final stages of the project, ensuring the timely completion and closure of all outstanding electrical works at the Goyder South Wind Farm. I now focus on working closely with the primary contractor and client to resolve any remaining issues, address questions, and ensure the overall successful delivery of the project.
Key daily responsibilities include:
• Managing and reviewing questions, comments, and requests within Aconex and comment registers to ensure clarity and timely resolution.
• Updating and ensuring the accuracy of outdated project documents, uploading quality assurance and compliance documentation as required.
• Coordinating and participating in commissioning and consortium meetings, providing technical insights and facilitating project progress discussions.
• Conducting quality inspection audits to ensure all electrical installations meet required standards and specifications.
• Leading the creation, management, and closure of punch lists, ensuring all items are addressed and resolved before project completion.
• Collaborating closely with all stakeholders to maintain seamless communication and keep the project on track for successful closeout.
By focusing on finalising critical project elements, I am ensuring that all electrical installations meet the highest quality standards, while contributing to the efficient and successful conclusion of the wind farm’s construction phase.
As the Electrical Supervisor at the Goyder South Wind Farm, I have led the MV reticulation electrical installation and commissioning efforts for the Balance of Plant for South Australia's largest Wind Farm renewable energy project. Consisting of 75 turbines and a capacity of 412MW.
I have been responsible for overseeing and coordinating the full scope of MV reticulation electrical works, including but not limited to 33kV cable trenching, installation, testing, and terminations, as well as fibre optic systems, earth grid installations and testing. Substation and turbine cable entry hauling.
My role also encompassed all quality documentation, record keeping, permitting, scheduling, and procurement.
Key achievements include:
• Supervised the trenching and installation of over 139,000 meters of 33kV cable, Fibre optic and ECC.
• Managed the BoP MV electrical installation for 75 5.5 MW wind turbines, including 360 dead break elbow terminations.
• Oversaw the completion of 24 inline cable joints and the installation of 13 underground junction chambers, including excavation, installation, termination, testing, and backfilling.
• Safely managed high voltage switching operations for 12 collector groups, including additional de-energisations and HV access permitting to facilitate the completion of various works.
• Coordinated the efforts of 10 different companies and supervised a total of 128 contractors, ensuring seamless workflow and project progress.
With a strong focus on safety, quality assurance, and efficient project delivery, I have successfully led teams to achieve milestones critical to the wind farm's electrical infrastructure, contributing to the overall success of the project.
