My name is Briar Allan, and I'm currently a student at Craighead Diocesan School. I am a hard-working and dedicated learner with a strong passion for communication and storytelling. Over the years of studying at school, I have discovered to find myself to have a deep interest in broadcasting, particularly through my involvement in public speaking within my leadership role as Sacristan. I thoroughly enjoy the excitement and challenges of presenting to an audience by using my voice to engage, persuade or inspire others.
Earlier this year, I completed work experience with TVNZ, where I gained first-hand exposure to the fast-paced and dynamic broadcasting industry. During this time, I covered a story for Seven Sharp at the New Zealand Dog Trials, filmed a Crusaders press conference with 1 News, and observed a live cross at Pines Beach with Breakfast. These experiences provided valuable insight into different aspects of journalism, from live reporting to production, and confirmed my passion for the field while strengthening my commitment to pursuing a career in journalism.
