  • Company Overview: Crisis Pregnancy Support and Māmā me Pēpi Oranga (Maternal and Infant wellbeing)
  • Attending home visits, alongside an experienced nurse clinician, to places with complex circumstances such as poverty, mental health challenges, food and housing insecurity, and lack of access and engagement with required health services
  • During these visits we bought boxes of food and essential items, built rapport and did assessments and referrals to what services they were needing, including help with repaying debts, trying to find a spot in preschool for child with developmental delays, and mental health, physical health and financial aid services for mother
  • Being aware and mindful during home visits, of the attachment and communication between children and parents (whether the parents were attuned to cues of their children with responsiveness) the family dynamics, the living conditions of their home environment and child protection and well-being concerns
  • Working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team with psychologists, infant and maternal mental health experts, social workers, nurses, midwives, plunket nurses and a paediatrician
  • Attending multi-disciplinary meetings where cases were discussed and the team would work collaboratively to find solutions
  • Making up gift bags and distributing them to people and services around Nelson to show gratitude for the support they give the women and children through Hapai Taumaha Hapūtanga, and provide them with annually updated booklets of up to date resources and services for vulnerable families
