At the Dog Den, some of the key elements to my job were;

• Managing a team of people effectively and providing care and overseeing 100+ dogs on any given day.
• Mentoring other team members on dog training methods and teaching them to utilize positive reinforcement techniques and to maintain consistency in commands.
• Providing a safe environment for dogs and handlers alike by conducting thorough evaluations of each animal''s temperament and behavior before allowing them to join daycare.

At Duke's, I was responsible for the care and well-being of large groups of dogs and the general day to day running of the business. Some of my key responsibilities were as followed;

• Keeping crates,play areas, toys and all equipment clean and sanitized.
• Performing basic wound care and other medical aid to minor injuries.
• Basic grooming
• Monitoring dogs for behavioral problems and signs of health issues.
• Training dogs in either groups or solo sessions to improve manners and provide mental stimulation.
• Identifying issues, analyzing information and providing solutions to problems.
• Supervised play groups, managed behaviour and made adjustments to which dogs are in each group if needed
• Set up enrichment activities such as water play, licky mats, snuffle mats, scavenger hunts, ice play and much more.

• Processed payments for daycare and retail purchases
• Evaluated animals to determine temperaments and suitability for daycare and training.
• Trained new employees to understand dog behaviour and the training techniques we used.

• All of the necessary day to day care of up to 20 dogs and any pups we had at the time
• Developing and enforcing a schedule to balance walking, feeding and the socialization needs of the dogs.
• Managing vet appointments, race meets and training sessions.
• Assessing dogs for signs of injury or illness and notifying both the owner and the vet.
