I am currently a fourth-year student completing Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Environmental Management with a minor in Marine Science at the University of Otago. I am looking to pursue a career in the environmental field specifically in water resource management and hope to gain experience through a range of work in the industry to build and develop my skills as an environmental manager.
My academic career up to this point has given me with a solid foundation in environmental sciences, including coursework in environmental regulations, data collection techniques, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). I have engaged in regular fieldwork through my coursework around Otago's coastlines, oceans, and natural areas and in previous job experiences in Northland which has taught me how to operate best in these environments. This past summer break I was fortunate to be given an opportunity at the Northland Regional Council as an intern for the hydrology team, where I was able to pick up a lot of practical skills and knowledge both in office and the field which provided great insight into working in our natural environment and the rewarding work out there to be done.
I am currently looking for a graduate role in my chosen field and am keen to explore the potential careers out there for me. I am living in Dunedin for 2024 but am open work in other locations around New Zealand.
