I have previously done hospitality work, where I worked on stock rotation and front-of-house sales for a concert. I have also done bar and kitchen work at large events like the Addington and Riccarton races.
Currently, I am working as a checkout operator at Fendalton New World. During my employment, I am regularly required to scan items and pack bags on my own, navigate difficult situations, and employ problem-solving skills. I can proficiently communicate with others. I have earned the qualifications to operate the lotto counter and self-checkout. This allows me to take the lead and gives me the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team.
Mid-2023, I did some work experience in the Air New Zealand engineering centre. During the three months I was there, I was given practical hands-on tasks to complete on my own and alongside others. This gave me an idea on the practical side of aircrafts and working as a hands on mechanic.
