Summary

I am looking for my next opportunity in the mechanical and automotive industry after 12 years working as a heavy diesel technician, including seven years as a fully qualified technician, and five years owning and operating my own heavy diesel business as a sole operator.

I completed my trade training in a reputable workshop before progressing into business ownership in Dannevirke. For the past five years, I have successfully run a one-man workshop, taking full responsibility for both the technical and operational sides of the business. This has included building and maintaining strong client relationships, managing bookings and job scheduling, handling invoicing and administration, overseeing stock and parts ordering, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, while consistently delivering high-quality outcomes. While it will be difficult to step away from my established client base, I am excited by the opportunity to grow professionally and contribute my experience within a larger team or leadership environment.

My approach to work is focused on efficiency, organisation, and quality outcomes. As a sole operator, I have been responsible for client liaison from first contact through to job completion, managing workflow and prioritising urgent work, coordinating suppliers, and maintaining accurate records, alongside remaining fully hands-on in the workshop. Technically, I am experienced in servicing, diagnostics, fault finding, breakdown assistance, problem solving, and repairs across a wide range of heavy transport vehicles.

In addition to my heavy diesel background, I also have experience working on light vehicles. I was exposed to the automotive industry from a young age through my father’s auto wrecking business and later expanded my own business to include light vehicle servicing and repairs. This has given me a broad and adaptable skill set across both heavy and light automotive work.

On a personal level, I am a dedicated husband and father, and I bring the same reliability, accountability, and commitment to my professional life. I take pride in running an organised operation and in contributing positively to the teams and organisations I am part of.

I would welcome the opportunity to bring my technical expertise, operational experience, and practical business knowledge to your organisation. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I could add value to your team.

Kind regards,
Cameron Mackay
