I am writing to express my keen interest in the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of primary education through teacher development, curriculum design, and educational research. As an experienced and passionate primary school educator in New Zealand with a Master's degree in Educational Leadership (First Class Honours), I bring a strong foundation in classroom practice, proven leadership capabilities, and a deep commitment to raising student achievement-particularly in literacy. Throughout my career, I have held various teaching and leadership positions within the primary education sector. These roles have equipped me with a wide range of skills and insights that I believe make me a strong candidate for the role of Primary School Programme Director. My experience includes mentoring beginning teachers, leading curriculum development initiatives, and facilitating professional learning with a focus on culturally responsive, evidence-informed pedagogy. My passion for educational research and continuous learning is a driving force in my professional life. Earning a Master's degree with First Class Honours in 2022 highlighted this commitment, and I am now working toward pursuing a PhD to further explore innovative, high-quality teaching practices and culturally sustaining approaches to education. A key highlight of my career has been my work with beginning teachers. As a mentor, team leader, and most significantly a facilitator at the Kohia Education Centre, I supported Provisionally Registered Teachers (PRTS) in their first and second years of practice. This work deepened my ability to mentor and coach adult learners effectively. I also facilitated professional development across a range of curriculum areas, including literacy, Mathematics, the Arts, and Inquiry learning. To strengthen my ability to lead in adult education, I am open to pursuing a Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching. In my current leadership role, I serve as a team leader and curriculum lead. I lead with clarity and purpose, guiding teams through collaborative inquiry and evidence-based decision-making rooted in the Science of Learning. Literacy remains a strong area of expertise and passion for me-I've led targeted initiatives that have significantly improved learner outcomes, and I deeply value the opportunity to build teacher capacity and confidence in this critical area. I also bring substantial experience in Mathematics education and understand deeply how children learn across disciplines, which I can confidently bring to the training of future educators. My practice is grounded in responsive curriculum design and assessment, aligned to the New Zealand Curriculum and tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners. I bring an inclusive, culturally sustaining approach that honours the identities and potential of all students. A key strength I offer is the ability to build genuine relationships across the sector. My involvement as a staff representative on the Northcote Primary School Board provided me with governance experience and a deep appreciation for the processes behind school-wide decision-making. Currently, I am a fully certified teacher with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand and remain actively engaged in educational research and professional development. I believe I can make a meaningful contribution to a high-quality primary teacher training programme-one that supports and empowers training teachers, builds strong school partnerships, and contributes to a diverse, thriving education workforce.
