- I have learned many skills involving setting up a working construction site, making it secure and prepped, operating excavators up to 20 tons, mixing drill fluid using different polymers, testing drill fluid and recording results, using power tools and plant such as concrete saws, breakers, compactors, pumps, generators, recycling plants, reading service plans, identifying services underground, operating hydro excavators, and installing manholes, drains, pipes, and channels to a concrete or epoxy finish.
- Closing in on four years of working here, I have obtained the following: Class 4 license, WRT license, confined space entry ticket, site safe inductions, KiwiRail inductions, first aid qualification, and an elected role as health and safety representative.
- Notify and report near miss or incidents to my supervisor to reduce risk of repeating and harming co workers.
- Communicate effectively, use of radios and hand signals. Working with many different people from different backgrounds and ethnicities to achieve a set goal.
- Some experience using the digitrak falcon F5 locator system for locating while drilling in HDD (horizontal directional drilling).
- I was appointed as drilling team 2IC to assist my supervisor in day to day tasks, paperwork and planning ahead to have the job running smoothly.
