Correction officers are responsible for maintaining order and security in detention facilities

Duties include:

• Supervising inmates involves overseeing them in designated areas, looking for unusual behaviour, rule infractions, and suspicious activity.
• Searching inmates and visitors: Conducting searches of cells, inmates and visitors for contraband, such as weapons or drugs
• Maintaining order and ensuring rules are complied with, and responding quickly to incidents.
• Assisting in offender rehabilitation efforts: Supporting rehabilitation and counselling
• Filing reports on inmate conduct: Preparing incident reports and other documentation
• Inspecting and maintaining facilities: Inspecting cells, locks, gates, and window bars for signs of tampering
