I am a passionate and dedicated kaiako with a strong background in early childhood education, and I have recently completed my graduate diploma in Primary Teaching at the University of Canterbury. I bring hands-on experience from multiple placements and employment in both ECE and school environments.
I am committed to creating inclusive, engaging learning spaces that support the growth and development of all learners. I have a strong focus on working with tamariki with learning differences. I have gaps in my work history, as I have four boys and have taken time off to be a mum.
My most recent placement at Rapaura School further ignited my interest and passion for teaching. I am really looking forward to the opportunity to teach tamariki and get to know them and their whānau, as well as be a part of a teaching team.
I have experience with curriculum development, ensuring educational content meets all necessary standards and engages students, utilising a range of teaching methods to address different learning styles, and promoting a well-rounded understanding of subjects. I have developed a strong understanding of classroom management techniques to maintain a productive and respectful learning environment.
In my last placement, I ensured from the start that I built relationships with the ākonga and their whānau. Building these relationships was the foundation for establishing trust during the seven weeks I was there.
I worked well with my associate kaiako to ensure I was teaching her long-term plan with adaptations to show my own planning and teaching.
I used my initiative and forward thinking to ensure I was helping my associate kaiako and the ākonga without any prompting.
I developed strong relationships with the staff and ensured I was available to help when and where needed.
In my personal life, my own tamariki are my biggest accomplishment. I have taught them from a young age to enjoy exploring the outdoors and reading.
I am also a part of Blenheim Musical Theatre, Volunteering in the kitchen, waitressing and front of house. This year, I was a part of our big show, Footloose.
I am on the board for my son's preschool and the parent support crew for my other son's school. This involves a lot of policy reviews and fundraising.
I also help out with Rise Academy's summer intensive program, where tamariki learn and perform a show in two weeks.
I am currently applying for my primary teaching registration.
