I am a third-year Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) student at the University of Canterbury, specialising in Chemical and Process Engineering with plans to minor in Environmental Process Engineering. I am passionate about designing innovative water treatment systems that address environmental and cultural challenges while promoting sustainable and resource-efficient solutions.
As an engineering intern at Silver Fern Farms Ltd., I am working on a feasibility study of water usage and systems mapping around the site. I gained valuable insights exploring how water flows through the site and its use in various operations. Learnt Industrial Automation Skills through RealPars courses such as SCADA, HMI, PLC programming (ladder logic), FOPDT, FactoryIO, CODESYS, and CCW.
I gained six months of practical industry experience as a Meat Processing Team Member at Silver Ferm Farms Ltd, where I gained valuable insights into quality control, process engineering, and teamwork within a fast-paced operational environment. My ability to adapt and collaborate effectively was further demonstrated by training new team members, showcasing my leadership skills.
I was a pack leader in the UC Run Canterbury Club, combining my enthusiasm for running and community engagement by guiding groups of students. This experience reinforced my ability to motivate and lead teams.
- Technical proficiency in key engineering tools such as AutoCAD for solid modelling and design, Python (Jupyter Notebooks) for data analysis, piping and instrumentation diagrams for process design, and spectrophotometry for environmental applications.
- Fluent in both Tagalog and English, adaptable team player, and proactive learner.
- Conducted a feasibility study on water usage, analysing site-wide water flow and its utilisation across operations.
- Compiled a comprehensive report outlining findings and recommendations for water management.
- Researched and analysed cooling tower operations, proposing potential improvements to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
- Mapped existing underground and overhead water supply systems using SolidWorks, including valves, pipes, and operational infrastructure.
- Gained practical knowledge of industrial automation and control systems, learning SCADA and PLCs for real-time process monitoring and control.
- Explored water softening methods using high-purity sea salt and chemical dosing techniques to optimise boiler operations and prevent scaling.
- Developed insights into sustainability initiatives, including the company's Net Carbon Zero by Nature programme.
- Investigated wastewater treatment processes and solid waste separation techniques to learn how regulatory compliance is achieved and sustained.
