Iwi Partnership Manager

  • Developed Equity Plan for the division, and provide equity lens in the implementation of the plan.
  • Provide cultural support for our organisation, developed He Tipu-Cultural Confidence Roadmap, delivering weekly workshops, and currently in the preperation of supporting education on Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Partnered with Waikato Tainui who supported us with cultural experiences, marae noho, and an invitation to be a partner on their Koiora Health Strategy.
  • Engaged with WBOP Iwi leads for Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi and Ngāti Pūkenga ki Tauranga, gaining support for an accommodation facility in Tauranga.
  • Connected with IMPB leads for Te Tiratū(Waikato Tainui), Tūwharetoa, and Te Moana a Toi(WBOP).
  • Initiated the engagement for a partnership with Te Kōhao Health-Taakiri Tuu, leading to a 50/50 partnership role for a Community Cancer Care Navigator. This will be a pilot for future partnerships across our regions, including Taumarunui, Tūwharetoa, and EBOP.
  • Developed new relationships with two Hauora Māori Services, successfully partnering on the delivery of two Kia ora - E te iwi programmes.
  • Fostered relationships with Hauora Māori services to extend our services to hard-to-reach and rural communities, delivering several education sessions and workshops about services and whats available.

  • Advocated for national tobacco control policies, contributing to the development of the governments comprehensive Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products (Smoked Tobacco) Amendment Bill.
  • Provided administrative and leadership support for the Tupeka Kore Rōpū, National Māori Smokefree Collective, a collective of Māori health experts influential in advocating for the development and implementation of the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products (Smoked Tobacco) Amendment Bill.
  • Ongoing input into organisations tobacco position statements, and media releases.

  • Successfully led a project that encouraged three out of four District Councils to adopt Smokefree/Vapefree Outdoor Environments Policies.
  • Played a key role in the Smokefree Environments campaign, contributing to the governments Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products (Smoked Tobacco) Amendment Bill.
  • Co-facilitated a program aimed at educating Māori men about the health risks associated with lifestyle factors, that can reduce risks of diseases such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
  • Delivered presentations to whānau and staff at workplaces and marae, emphasizing the importance of regular medical check-ups and raising awareness of health risks related to lifestyle factors.
  • Led the 'Kia ora - E te iwi' kaupapa Māori cancer support program for 4 years, focusing on reducing inequities and reaching rural Māori communities. The program fostered partnerships with Māori Health Providers and provided education, coping strategies, and information on accessing cancer support services.
