With extensive experience teaching at both middle and high school levels in New Zealand and international systems, my specialty lies in the humanities, particularly history and social studies. I have embraced Google applications such as Google Classrooms, Sites, and Drive to enhance my teaching methods in response to the growing emphasis on online and digital learning. My versatile experience and training have made me a well-rounded teacher and educator. I continuously strive for personal and professional growth, embodying the maxim that "life is a school." Beyond the classroom, my passion for history has led me to travel extensively to sites of historical significance, including the Cuban revolutionary period in Cuba, Moscow, Volgograd, the Somme battlefields, and Barcelona for a deeper understanding of the Spanish Civil War. During my time in Indonesia, I explored far-flung regions like the Banda Islands, embracing a sense of being a true world citizen. Teaching Theory of Knowledge has been both fulfilling and challenging, enriching my teaching awareness and competencies while fostering critical thinking across various subjects like mathematics, sciences, and indigenous knowledge systems. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, my previous experience with online learning proved invaluable. Since being back in New Zealand (2020) I have undertaken a variety of professional undertakings - as Reader Writer, Teacher Aide, Substitute teacher and, at the New Zealand School of Tourism, as a Curriculum writer. Colleagues and acquaintances describe me as erudite, curious, laconic, positive by nature—and a lover of dogs! With my experience, passion, and broad competencies, I am confident that I can contribute significantly to any faculty or organization. Regards, Christopher Dickson
