I have worked for Higgins Contractors since August 2021. Since my time with this company, I have been involved with the establishing of the drainage crews. I quickly established myself at Higgins and began leading two crews on the same site and then to working on three separate sites. I was promoted to Drainage Supervisor in in early 2023 and have since been involved with supervising three drainage crew, assisted in managing a site, completing Project Engineer Quality Assurance duties and Project Managing those three crews, as well as being one of the go to problem solvers in the Wellington Higgins Branch. My technical knowledge is often called upon to address key issues In my time before this I completed my apprenticeship with Daniel Renshaw Drainage Contractor, I spent time developing my knowledge in operating different times of machinery and I believe I am a competent operator. I have completed large civil projects including installation of large pipe, manholes, sumps and wingwalls as well as small residential projects. I have a good rapport with the council inspectors and can complete various work involving the three waters, subdivisions green and brown fields, residential new builds and repairs on existing dwellings. I also have learnt a lot about operating GPS and Laser levels including working out all grades from scratch and developing plans and as-builts as I go. Before this time, I worked for Quality Demolition (QDC), and before that i walked as a labourer and Class 2 Overdimensional Pilot with a Building Removal Specialist. I studied at Victoria University for four years and I achieved a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration majoring in Accounting and Commercial Law and a Bachelor of Music majoring in musicology. I am goal driven and work well under pressure and can handle any amount of stress and I will still get the task done. I also partake in some treasurer roles with different organisations. Some of these are for scouting and some are for musical societies. I am also involved with a lot of musical productions, including being involved on stage and backstage, lighting and sound and musical direction/direction. All of these extra activities have given me excellent time management skills and I am really good at balancing all of these. I am currently enrolled at the Open Polytechnic where I am working towards a course of study in Quantity Surveying and Estimating, while also completing my Level 4 New Zealand Apprenticeship in Infrastructure Works
1. Scouting is a big part of my life and I have been with the movement since cubs (age 8) right through to Rovers (Present). Back when I was a scout I attended Jamborees, and I loved every minute of it. When I was 14 I was chosen out of a large number of candidates to be part of the Jamboree patrol (a group of youth that assisted the adults/leaders in planning and controlling the event) we were chosen as leaders and every three years I return to assist in the running of them. In 2008 I helped on the theatre base (one of my other passions) and in January 2011 I helped in food logistics/distribution, a 6.30a.m-10.00p.m job. I have also assisted with the New Zealand Venture in which I was an expedition leader. I led 35 Venturers on a five day expedition. I have been involved in the Hutt Valley Scout and Guide Gangshow for 18 years. In the most recent show I was accepted for the role of Assistant Musical Director. This position involved teaching music to the cast and doing musical arrangement. Since then i have been the Finance Director for a big scouting event and I have been the Assistant Catering Manager and Catering Manager in the two most recent scout Jamborees. Scouting is important to me and I enjoy being able to give back.
2. Music is a great passion of mine and it is a great form of self-expression. Over the years I have learnt Piano (Trinity College Grade 3 and 5), Guitar, Trombone and I am still a talented Singer (Performance). I enjoy singing in groups and have been a part of a few choirs. I also love the theatre and enjoy participating in and watching them. Along with Gangshow I have been in Fiddler on the Roof (2003) and Grease (2008), Footloose (2011), Chicago (2014), Jesus Christ Superstar (2015) All Shook Up (2015), Jukebox Live (2016), I Love You Because (2016), Be Bop A Lula (2017), Sweeney Todd (2017), All Shook Up (2017), Phantom of the Opera (2018), Into the Woods (2018), Little Shop of Horrors (2019), A Great Face for Radio (2020), Les Misérables (2021).
