Conrad Smith

Rolleston,Canterbury

Summary

I was raised a hard worker and have never known anything else other than giving 100 percent to everything I do. I hold myself to my good character. I know working in the mine will provide a great opportunity to work hard and put my skills I have acquired via my previous employment opportunities to the good use, and will provide the opportunities to develop me skills and provide the potential for me to advance further. I am not someone who jumps into anything blind and I have watched many a videos of pit mines and how they operate. I know for sure it is something I want to chase. I have a good friend Harvey Gardener who introduced me to the mines by telling me stories of the haul trucks, and now the dozer he operates. Given my current occupation entails crawling under houses you could imagine this would be extremely appealing to a man who has a new found love for heavy machinery. Given my aptitude for learning and growth within a company I look to stay for the long haul and work my way from the bottom up. I would love the opportunity to work for you and prove I will be a consistently hard worker and become a valuable member of the team. I am happy to answer any questions and hope I have the opportunity to take the next step towards working in this industry for you.

Thank you

Foreman

Heritage House Relevellers

  • Trained new employees to learn new systems, apply best practices and comply with protocols and regulations.
  • Operate heavy machinery and trained others in operations of machinery eg: hiab trucks, diggers, skid steers, kangas, hydraulic house lifting equipment. This is where I have found a love for operating heavy machinery.
  • Maintained a safe working environment through adherence to safety protocols and regular site inspections.
  • Ensured timely completion of projects with effective time management and prioritization of tasks.
  • Checked equipment to determine if maintenance was required.
  • I excelled quickly at this job because from the beginning I looked to the person ahead of me to see how I could do their job in a more efficient way. I knew there was a great team with an awesome foundation to build from, and with a little morel boosting and hard work I got to the position I wanted to be within the company. I found morel and leadership was a big part that was lacking, and with a job where you are crawling under houses day in day out it was something that was needed.

Building Apprentice

Brown Town Builders
Christchurch
01.2018 - 01.2019
  • Contributed to a clean and organized worksite by properly disposing of waste materials and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Showcased adaptability by learning new construction techniques quickly adapting them into daily routines.
  • Strengthened communication abilities when interacting with clients, colleagues, supervisors, ensuring clear understanding of project requirements and expectations.
  • My time at Brown Town was short but taught me a lot about real world environments being my first full time job out of high school. I learnt a lot about dealing with adults and where I wanted to see myself going. There wasn’t a lot of room for me to grow within the company as it was a team of four and the boss and no intention of expanding. So I knew I had to take my skills elsewhere.

Fabricator

HRN Engerneeeing
Christchurch
02.2016 - 01.2018
  • Read blueprints and technical drawings to determine specifications of materials and tools needed for specific jobs.
  • Operated welding machines and grinders to cut, shape and join metal workpieces.
  • Fabricated components and structures following customer requirements.
  • Cut bent, and formed sheet metal and other materials to create metal works.
  • Working here was awesome and I got to learn a lot from men that were far smarter than I and had a lot of patience in my learning. This was a part time job for me as I was still in school so I would leave school to work once a week and on alternating Saturdays.

  • Supported inventory management by monitoring stock levels and promptly notifying supervisors of shortages or discrepancies.
  • Assisted in training new staff members on proper burger-making techniques, ensuring consistency across the team.
  • My time carried out at burger fuel was a fun one with a good team with multiple store for me to bounce between. This was more a less a job just for money through high school as I’ve been into cars and dirt bikes from an early age a neither being cheap hobbies.
