Craig Edgerton

INVERCARGILL,Southland

Summary

I come from a working class family and was taught at a young age to roll your sleeves up and get the job done. I work well unsupervised by myself or I can fit straight into a team situation. I can pretty much turn my hand to most tasks and pick things up very quickly. I would be an asset to any employer looking to utilise the skills I currently have or train me for any roles they think I would be suitable for.

  • Interpreted plans accurately, building structures to specifications.
  • Coordinated subcontractors to complete work within quality and timeframe targets.

Slaughterman

Blue Sky Pastures
10.1993 - 01.2003

Worked as part of an efficient seasonal slaughter team produciing a humanely processed carcass while adhering to strict hygiene and safety procedures.

From 1999 to 2003 I was also employed by Blue Sky Pastures as a off season maintenance crew member. This was mostly steel fabrication as well as giving some insight as a slaughterman as to how improvements could be made.

Forestry Worker

Wayne Edgerton Contracting
01.1993 - 01.1999

I was employed by my brother as a crew leader responsible for 8-10 workers planting trees for Earnslaw One Forestry Ltd from 1993-1997.

From 1997-1999 I contracted to Wayne Edgerton contracting as a ATV operator delivering trees to planters as in rugged Southland hill country.

In the off season from planting I was also involved in some chainsaw operations, mainly pinus radiata thinning.

Labourer

Doug Willis Motor Body Builders
10.1987 - 10.1993

I worked for Doug Willis as a labourer where I learnt various fabrication skills including welding, timber-work, fibre-glassing and assembly of numerous kitset bodies.

Doug was a hard but fair boss and I don't regret a day I spent there as I learnt so much and still utilise the skills I learnt there to this day.

Personal

I currently live at Makarewa on my 5 acre piece of paradise aptly named "5 Acre Station" with my partner of 16 years Stephanie.  In our melded family we have 4 adult children and 3 precious grandsons. We love our farmlet and raising a few cows, sheep and chickens for food and the Mrs has a couple of pet kune kune pigs. I enjoy getting out in the bush hunting and bringing home some meat for the freezer and this is a skill I'm trying to pass down to my grandsons. I'm also member of the Drummond Motorcycle Club and attend most of their charity fund raising rides and also love cruising in our old school V8 falcon.
