Since starting out as an apprentice mechanic then becoming a qualified small motor mechanic in Napier, I then moved to Perth Australia, where I then started working in the Oil and Gas industry for 8 ½ years employed with Halliburton Australia in October 2007. I have worked in various locations in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Timor-Leste. Most notably 48 months on the Atwood Oceanics Osprey as a Supervisor for the Gorgon and Wheatstone gas projects for Chevron.

Operate all cement pumping and mixing equipment: blenders, liquid chemical additive metering systems, centrifugal pumps, data acquisition systems, Automatic Density Control (ADC) systems, bulk cement blending, delivery and storage systems, manifold equipment, and cementing plug releasing tools
Runs and retrieves downhole tools to isolate zones and underground formations
Perform pre-job calculations related to: pipe capacities and volume/height math, plug landing pressures, absolute volumes (including total water requirements for job), hydrostatic and differential pressure, resulting forces, balanced plugs, bulk cement blending, calculations to include liquid additives and weighted spacers, pressure to reverse, and determining burst and collapse pressures
Sets-up and utilizes a controller to run ADC software for the purpose of monitoring and acquiring job data and for accurate mixing of cement slurries in the performance of a cementing job
Downloads controller and/or performs real-time report generation of job data using the appropriate computer system
Complete documents, reports, and forms related to the cementing service performed
Trains and provides guidance to less experienced Service Operators and Operator Assistants
Good working knowledge of operational procedures and Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards
Utilises safety initiatives and implements safety behavioural intervention methods to maintain a proactive and committed approach to safety culture
