  • Stakeholder Management - Reporting to program governance structures and stakeholders is critical when managing projects\programs. Key skill here is to report up information that is relevant, addresses key information and understandable.
  • Vendor Management - Vendor management is a big part of my current role at Council not only thru projects but other duties.
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS) - I currently build all SCORM training packages for application projects I deliver. Training is rolled out to users via the Percipio LMS as self-help learning.
  • Asset Management Systems - I recently project managed an asset management systems implementation key learnings were asset life cycle maintenance and renewals, financial asset management, spatial asset management, SCADA and IOT.
  • Strategic Management -Studying the Pearce and Robinson model of strategic formulation. I volunteer time to governance roles in my community where I also receive comprehensive training via NZSTA.
  • Project Management - I manage stakeholders, procurement, outcomes, change management, timelines, benefits, people, and budgets for multiple projects in the IT domain. Develop business cases, feasibility studies for strategic and operational purposes.
  • Operational Management of IT - Incorporating the guiding principles of ITiL framework and creating a culture of these fundamentals is something I work on every day. Many of the projects I deliver involve ICT operations.
  • Change Management - Change management is a daily practice in my current role as project manager. Prosci change management methodology using the PCT model and ADKAR model.
  • Solutions Architecture - Systems analysis, business analysis, network architecture, strategic drivers, political factors compiled with a desired framework i.e. Info-Tech best practices are a big feature of what I incorporate to everyday work practice.
  • Systems Analysis - I have good understanding of SDLC, waterfall and Agile development life cycles, ESS (executive support systems), DSS (decision support systems), MIS (management information systems) and TPS (transactional process systems). Level 7 systems analyst qualification.

Interests and hobbies

I own a surfboard, paddle board, mountain bike, dirt bike, hiking boots and guitar all collecting dust, the hope is one day a will have time to do something with those items. One thing I do like thou is a good old game of golden oldies rugby or league.

This year I have scaled back my voluntary commitments in the community to focus on my career. I formerly held positions on the Moerewa Junior Rugby Committee, Bay of Islands Junior Rugby Committee, Bay representative to the Northland Junior Rugby Council. I am still a current board member of the Bay of Islands College School. My spare time is dedicated to supporting my 4 children and their various sporting activities and events.
