Worked on Ward A8 as a registered nurse since its opening caring for acute stroke patients and vascular surgery patients both pre and post operatively.


Working on the ward I have collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans for complex patients with multiple comorbidities.


Additional duties:

  • Working in the Acute Stroke Nurse role responsible for seeing acute admissions in the emergency department and assisting with expediting their transfers to CT scanning to ensure time critical interventions can be given as soon as possible. This role also includes acute swallow screening for patients post stroke to refer patients to speech language therapy for review of dysphagia and aphasia. It also includes providing stroke education to patients prior to discharge and advising other staff on care of stroke patients.
  • Nurse in charge responsible for coordinating admissions and discharges and coordinating staffing with Duty Nurse Managers after hours.
  • Precepting of netp graduates
