My working career has involved a large range of positions from my apprenticeship to managing and owning small to medium companies. Over my time in the workforce, I have gained experience in many aspects and all levels within a diverse range of industries. Work History

  • Preparation of JSA’s and SSP’s ensuring team members are communicated with on a daily basis by way of Tool box meetings, regular visits to sites and adhering to Health and Safety requirements, hazard ID and task analysis.
  • Extensive experience in earthworks, drainage and ducting work including road crossings, ducting installation, footpath and island removal, build and reinstatement.

Civil Manager

  • I initially was employed as a Civil Manager to get the CSLT civil operation up and running. There were only 3 of us at the beginning.
  • We also had 5 electricians serving the traffic and street light sector. We set about building the business and successfully secured some tendered works with the TCC in the civil 3 waters space and streetscape upgrades.
  • My role involved leading a Civil team, providing estimates, creating client relationships, forecasting and procuring asset requirements, maintaining costs and time restraints on all work.
  • I took over as GM for the BOP/Waikato in February 2023. (where we have won a 10-year signal maintenance contract). Within this role I was responsible for 9 direct reports made up of a leadership team of Quantity Surveyors overall with a current Branch team of 50 personnel.

  • Contracted as Contracts Manager. Currently completing a 20-month contract that I bid on and won removing and building Skyline Rotorua’s state-of-the-arc Luge Park worth approx. $6m. Site Establishment, reporting, mobilization of equipment, and team to sites. Earthwork and development from inception to completion. This has involved client relations, tendering, securing contracts, executing work required alongside plans and programs, and working with regional and local councils to ensure all requirements are met to establish a turnkey development.

  • Civil Earthworks Was employed to manage 2 sub divisions and the Mainfreight site at Truman Lane, Mount Maunganui. My role was to manage cost planning and productivity of subcontractors and JMC staff of approximately 15 and daily dealings with engineers, council representatives and clients.

  • I was approached by this company to negotiate a contract on their behalf with CPB, the main contractor of the Transmission Gully Project Wellington. We were successful in supplying two heavy machines with operators. The Company Director oversees the operations for that contract, and I remain in the BOP area to manage various other sites.

04.2014 - 06.2016
  • I purchased a small Transfer and Tour business that was a little run down. We operated throughout the Central North Island and Auckland regions. We supplied part time contract drivers to Reesby Rotorua, Mana Bus and Town and Country Tours as required. I hold a PSL and have a full understanding of the industry regulations. The business was sold in May 2016.

Branch Manager / Northern Area Manager

  • Macaulay Metals is the second largest Scrap metal trader in NZ at present. My role was to manage Rotorua, Kawerau, Whakatane and Gisborne. We also opened a bulk load out facility based at Mt Maunganui where we bulk shipped four thousand tons of ferrous metals every six weeks. During my time as Northern Area Manager I managed a team of forty men between four branches with the main branch being Rotorua, we operated our own logistic software and team made up of eight trucks and trailers. During the past twelve months prior to my resignation there were a number of resignations and or terminations of the COO, CFO(s) and the General Manager and the removal of all four nonexecutive board members by the sole shareholder / Managing director. I struggled with the reactive management style and integrity presented by the managing director and decided my time had run out with the company.

  • Apia the Tauranga City Council decided to sell the slipway for removal in late 2006 to allow for their new Harbour bridge extension, the Samoan Ports Authority purchased the complete slipway and freighted this to a village called Lalimanu on the American Samoa side of the Island. Over the next two years an international ferry terminal was built and the slipway now upgraded to 1000 ton was re-sited. I was engaged in early 2008 as Slipway Manager which included all administration duties, tendering / securing vessels from other pacific Islands and the Australian Navy, dock mastering and training the local workforce the art of abrasive blasting and applying protective coatings. I commuted to Samoa when vessels were to be docked. My time ended at Samoa due to contracting Typhoid because of conditions on the Island after the Tsunami

LEADERSHIP

I take pride in achieving high standards as well as maintaining an interactive service culture. My calm and methodical manner has held me in good stead which has enabled me to multi-task and manage pressures in times of chaos whilst achieving deadlines. I consider myself to be a driven person with a passion to succeed in whatever I set out to undertake. I strongly believe in a proactive not reactive management style which has ensured I resolve the many challenges management presents. Accountability and integrity are high on my list of standards and I have gained much respect from both my teams and clients at all levels of management. I believe I offer a commonsense approach whilst maintaining a fun work environment for all, at the same time ensuring all targets, company values and deadlines are achieved for directors, key stakeholders and sub-contractors.
