Working for Oracle Direct involved interacting with customers over the phone and via the web. Senior Pre-Sales Consultant

  • My role was to support the sales effort from a technical perspective. This required maintaining a sound and up to date knowledge of the Oracle technology stack of products and Oracle Applications, as well as knowledge of competitive products in the marketplace. A key task was to deliver technical presentations to both prospective clients and also at road shows, trade shows and conferences. I was also engaged in proof of concepts to demonstrate the viability of the software in the client's environment. Additionally I was involved in replying to RFI's (Request for Information) and RFP's (Request for Proposal). Oracle's sales model includes a channel and thus training the Partner base was an important aspect of my role, as well as keeping the Partners up to date on Oracle's latest product offerings. I was also involved in the sales process, from building a pipeline and forecasting to quoting and assisting in closing the deals. By nature of being a small branch office, one was required to multitask and this required me to fulfill a diverse role of functions, a lot of which fell outside the realm of my job description.
