My name is David Forbes and I'm 47 years old.
In October 2023 my partner and I moved to Opotiki where we are living on a farm in the Otara area. We are currently in the process of having a house relocated to site and setting up our lifestyle block and looking forward to enjoying the country lifestyle.
I would describe myself as a person who enjoys the outdoors and likes to keep busy at work and at home. I always have a project or two on the go and always thinking ahead on ways to improve my skills and learn new skills. I'm willing to give anything a try and find the best way to learn is to give it a go. I work well in a team environment and get on well with my peers and also don't mind working independently when required.
I started working for Downer Power in 2014 as a trainee electrical fitter. This was my first electrical work I had undertaken in employment and soon started an apprenticeship which I completed in 2017. Once qualified I have been generally running my own jobs which have included installations and replacements of transformers, ring main units, pillar boxes etc and high and low voltage cable jointing. One of my last projects was assisting with the build of a new upgraded substation which has involved everything from the fitment of equipment down to the control wiring. I was also rostered on our after hours faults team which generally covers 1st and second response diagnosis and repairs for all underground work and limited overhead repairs.
