Gipzy’s was a Christchurch chain of 4 stores with a 10 year heritage. We (my wife and I) bought the chain from the founders, and managed all aspects of the business. The stores comprised of 4-5 employees per store.
From Store Manager, through Buying and Planning Roles, to leading the Merchandise team of the 130, my career developed rapidly through this period. I joined the South Island arm of The Warehouse straight out of UC, with turnover in the early millions, and grew with the company to look after the entire Merchandise team responsible for planning and sourcing $1.3b in sales across a nationwide business.
