My name is Dean Du Toit. I am 30 years old currently working as a Central Processing Officer at the Ministry of Social Development managing and processing information efficiently. I graduated my bachelor's degree in Information and Communication Technology, specializing in Web Design and Multimedia from the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT). I am skilled in technology and design, team-work and customer service. I am looking for work that will gain me more experience and develop my skills and abilities. I am also hard-working, versatile and able to adjust in any work environment.

Kitchen hand

The Esplanade Hotel Restaurant

Working at the Esplanade Hotel I was working as kitchen hand. My main responsibilities were:

  • Helping the chef prepare food
  • Cleaning the dishes
  • Cleaning food equipment
  • Chopped vegetables, cut up fruit, and prepared sauces when kitchen staff was busy.


This job was my first job out of school and i had just began my first semester at university. The hours were flexible and I could only afford to work two days which were Friday and Saturdays. This job has definitely taught me:

  • Able to move quick on my feet
  • Work under pressure when there were functions happening
  • Become a quick learner and follow instructions
  • Maintained a well-organized work area by consistently cleaning surfaces and organizing supplies.
  • Cleaned and sanitized dishes and utensils, consistently keeping adequate supplies on hand for expected customer loads.

Working at Green Fingers has given me the experience of sales and telemarketing Green Fingers is a small business that sells and distributes wheelie bins around New Zealand I worked part time there too which was days a week. My responsibilities at this job was:

CourierPost was another casual/part time role I was working in while studying full time at university. I worked on roster shifts which covered3 -4 working days a week

My main responsibilities at CourierPost were:

  • Sorting out bags on the floor

  • Loading parcels into containers


I enjoyed working at CourierPost because it taught me tough labor work. Some days were very physical and loading parcels in and out of containers and trucks was difficult. This role has also taught me:

  • Reduced processing errors by implementing new procedures for data entry and verification.
  • Supported administrative staff with data entry tasks, ensuring accuracy in record-keeping systems.

My current work employment is a government agency working for the Ministry of Social Development as a Central Processing Officer. This is my first full-time role and I am based in Mangere. My main responsibilities as a CPO are:

  • Supported fellow Processing Officers during periods of high workload or absences by stepping in to assist with their responsibilities.
  • Achieved high levels of customer satisfaction due to timely resolutions of any issues encountered during the processing phase.
  • Collaborated with team members to achieve shared objectives and meet tight deadlines.
  • Provided excellent customer service by promptly addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to application processing.
  • Developed strong professional relationships with clients, fostering trust and confidence in the processing services provided by the organization.

At MSD I work in a team and i am also part of the social committee in the team which I organize social events for the team. I have participated in numerous events within MSD such as:

  • Worked at different offices around NZ such as Rotorua, Queen Street and Palmerston North
