Key Achievements

  • I led the successful allocation of $10m, Maori Partnership social housing funding to support Iwi social housing initiatives, across New Zealand. This required, engaging, with all applicants to understand their housing aspirations, and connecting them to commercial and government partners to support their aspirations. The successful housing initiatives that have been implement include: Ngati Mutunga - Chatham Islands Papakainga, Mangatawa - Papamoa Papakainga and Pukaki Trust - South Auckland Papakainga.


  • I led the establishment of Kahui Arahi - a co-governance partnership with representatives from mana whenua- Waikato and Ngati Whatua- Orakei and Ki Kaipara, and the Auckland Regional Leadership from across Oranga Tamariki, Service delivery, and Maori Partnerships and Funding. The intent and purpose, was to give life to the s7aa legislation, to support joint decision making, to enhance our service delivery to reduce inequity for Maori tamariki.


  • I led the tamariki workstreams, which was part of the Regional Leadership Governance (RLG) during COVID-19. The required co-ordination of a regional led Welfare response to COVID, through the provision of safe care/housing while isolating. I did this through working with Iwi, Police, MSD, DHB's, MOE, Corrections, Community providers and local government, to ensure a joint approach to safety and wellbeing.


  • Led the Housing Housing New Zealand transformational change process with the Tenancy Services, moving from a community development delivery model, to a commercially focused delivery model, I was responsible for developing the communication plan , engaging the delivery of the transformational change key messages, facilitating staff feedback, and delivering on the change final change document. I also was responsible for engaging with staff directly impacted, and ensuring the right support to navigate them through the change.


  • Developed and implemented the Training and Employment Strategy, to provide training and employment opportunities for Waikato-Tainui tribal beneficiaries, through the already established strategic commercial partnerships As an outcome of the raupatu settlement.
    Achievements Included 25 training opportunities with ACCOR, secured engineering scholarships with OPUS International, Secured 10 electrical training opportunities with Transpower.


  • Reviewed the Hamilton City Council Community Grant Funding Policy, processes and procedures. Developed and implemented a new funding framework and policy to ensure a more targeted funding approach to prioritised need was applied.
    Implementation of a new online funding plateform was implemented and well communicated to Iwi, maori and the wider community sector.
