My research experience in summary could be expressed chronologically in the following way: (2008-2011)- My first research experience date back to 2008, at University of Gondar, where I pursue my Bachelor of Pharmacy. I score 'A' all research related courses (research Methodology 'A', Biostatics 'A', Epidemiology 'A+') in my first-degree study, this boosts my desire towards research in my adolescent year. I was doing a review entitled: The efficacy and Safety of Misoprostol- mifepristone combination as an abortifacient, for the partial fulfillment of my Bachelor of Pharmacy In the last year, there was a program called TTP (Team Training Program) given by the University, that introduces me the actual data collection set up within the community. 2011- I went to Arba Minch University employed as graduate assistant II and I got a training about research Softwares especially on SPSS, which opens my eyes on data entry, analysis and interpretation. (2012- 2015)- At 2012, I started my masters in Pharmacology, I took advanced courses like Biostatistics and Research Methods, scored 'A', Advances in Drug Research, scored 'B+', Pharmacology Research &Bioethics, scored 'A'. An 'excellent' thesis defense. An important and crucial part of my research experience started when I joined Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI), one of the leading research institutes in Ethiopia, working in collaboration with different institutes in Africa, Europe and Canada. At AHRI: I got an exposure for genetics laboratory including manipulation of real time PCR, immunology laboratory including flowcytometry, cell biology, and Bacteriology laboratory especially on determining drug resistance pattern. I got a training on computer modeling. Participation in a weekly Journal club meeting held at AHRI. A training on GLP (Good laboratory practice). Further experience on SPSS, graph pad prism, flow jo, micro plate manager. I have got international experiences as mentioned above: Zibi Summer School Germany (Host - pathogen interplay), Keystone symposia Global Health Travel Award (Co- infection a global challenge for disease control). In Berlin, Zibi summer school I got an outstanding experience on 'Genetic manipulation of insects (Levashina)'. Finally, I got the most astonishing Award: Tore Godal Prize Award, given for young Ethiopian researchers in the area of Biomedical Sciences. This Award burns and boost my internal desire towards research. 2016 up to 2018: I had a chance to learn an online course delivered by University of Saskatchewan, Canada: Integrated Program in Infectious Diseases, Food Safety and Public Policy (ITraP) and a winter school about 'Role of Molecular Biology in Disease Diagnosis and Development of New Generation Vaccines' held at GADVAS University, Ludhiana, Punjab, India. Where I attend lots of molecular level research presentations. I also did one research on 'adverse effect of Azithromycin after mass drug administration in Arbaminch Zuria Woreda, Gomo gofa, Ethiopia'. Currently, I am working as assistant professor at Debre Markos University. In my four years' experience in the University, I acquire an important training on SPSS, STATA, SAS and R software that makes me more familiar with data entry, manipulation, analysis and interpretation. I am a research and community service committee member for research proposal evaluation done by staffs of health Science College. I am a team member of an ongoing mega project development and implementation on 'Indigenous Knowledge Documentation, Medicinal Plant Conservation and Validation towards Commercialization in East and west Gojjam, Awi and Metekel Zones, Ethiopia'. I am also involved in drug and health related researches at College and Department level. I win two research grant as PI on 'Serum Zinc Level of leprosy patients at ALERT, Addis Ababa' and 'Drug-Drug interaction among admitted patients at primary, district and referral hospitals' medical wards in East Gojjam Zone, Amhara Regional State, Ethiopia' and another two researches as Co-investigator. Currently, 2022, I am competing to win a project grant on 'Combating todays antimicrobial resistance tomorrows Bioterrorism via health literacy' at Debre Markos University. From 12 project proposals presented, my project ranked first. I hope, it will be granted in near future. Moreover, I launched a journal club and I am the coordinator of the journal club for a year. I have eight publications in different journals. Now, I am enthusiastically reading Drug discovery, Pharmacogenetics, drug resistance, therapeutic response, personalized medicine, Precision medicine and clinical outcomes, which are pharmacy's current and future up comings.
