I worked both front of house and behind the bar for two years part-time while I was at school. This involved the following tasks:

• Taking orders and delivering food and drinks
• Making coffees, cocktails and other beverages behind the bar
• Cleaning dishes
• Delivering food to hotel rooms
• Functions including wedding receptions and work conferences for the restaurant

Wahi was a busy, fast-paced restaurant and venue which provided me with experience in customer services, problem solving, conflict resolution and all aspects of hospitality.

I was responsible for looking after two children aged 8 and 10. This mainly included school pick up, after-school care, spending the afternoon together, completing homework, playing sports and preparing evening meals. This would occasionally include spending the two week school holiday period together doing different activities.

I worked as a retail assistant in a boutique gift and home store during the university holidays in the weeks leading up to Christmas. This included November/December of 2020, and November-January 2021/2022. This role included:

• Decorating the store
• Wrapping gifts
• Assisting customers in choosing the right gift
• Stock take
• Eftpos handling

I worked as a retail assistant in the university holidays (December-February) for two years. This involved working with children of all ages and fitting them for school uniforms. This also involved recording stock, cash and eftpos handling, and customer services in person and over the phone.

I worked in a small coffee shop as a barista while I lived in Wellington, until I moved to Christchurch.

I am currently employed as a Graduate Consents Planner at the Whangarei District Council (WDC). I began this role full-time in January 2024, following the completion of my studies, and previously worked in a casual capacity during the university holidays from 2022 through a scholarship programme.

During my time at WDC, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles, these include:

• Customer Service (Duty Planner Manager)
• Process Resource Consents
• Digitalised the District Plan (ePlan)
• Plan Changes
