Summary

To Whom It May Concern

I am excited to submit this application, I had applied with St Johns 20 years ago and unfortunately I was unsuccessful. The man on the end of the phone line said to me "You've done all you could Diane, but it's come down to your age and life experience (I was 19) Don't give up Diane, come back and apply again".
It took some time to get my head around the disappointment I felt all those years ago, well here I am again. Probably a little longer than the man was perhaps suggesting. He was right, I wasn't ready at 19 years old. I had little experience with loss and navigating difficult people and situations that would, in turn, shape me into the person I am today.
I filled those 20 years with jobs and people from whom I have learned so much, and I'm grateful to have had such diversity in my working life. However, every time after giving my all, achieving the goals I set out to conquer, it always seems to fall short. I no longer want to chase sales and dollars. It's time to align myself with where I truly believe I would be at my best. To be able to help people in their most vulnerable of moments, to be able to assist in making a small difference is something I believe I could do well.
Currently, I own my photography business 50/50 with my business partner. While I love the interactions I have with mostly mums and babies and the job itself, we are part of a wider group and the changes are not heading in a direction I wish to travel.
I would like to be part of a larger work community, and after been self employed for the last 6 years I would say its something I have missed.
I enjoy meeting people and make healthy connections easily, have a great sense of humour and an empathetic nature.
After discussing this with my now three teenage daughters, who are all responsible, respectful, and resilient young women, wanting their input into this decision was important to me. I was met with "You should go for it, Mum," and "You would be so good at that, Mum." I have the full support of my husband, and I can confidently say I'm ready to learn, can be fully committed to the requirements outlined, and I'm certain that the time has never been better for me and my family.

If you have any further information you require, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Warmest Regards
Di

Note: I am endeavoring to do a Level 2 First Aid course in June.

I am a self-employed photographer; I specialize in baby and children's photography. My business partner and I have grown the business for the last six years; we currently service the Auckland and Whangarei area. We have multiple locations across Auckland to which we bring our services. The role carries all the usual self-employed tasks, such as rostering, payroll, forecasting, and marketing.

Auckland Territory Manager

Mayo Hardware
, Auckland
04.2017 - 04.2018

I was the Auckland Territory Sales Manager; my role was primarily to create good relationships with customers and ensure sales of hardware products into their stores. Maintain and manage any issues or problems that may arise in a timely and professional manner. I was responsible for ordering stock and stock control within the Bunnings and Mitre 10 stores. I traveled up North on a regular schedule with a company car that I was entrusted with.

Cellar Door Manager

Soljans Estate Winery
Kumeu, Auckland
10.2012 - 11.2013

I started in this role as a part-time worker when my children were very little, and I progressed to take on the manager role. The job required open and close of the winery, cash handling, inventory control, stock take, and winery tour guide. This would be where I would talk to large tour groups and conduct wine tastings.
