I am a highly motivated, curious and empathetic person who has been regarded by colleagues as one of the politest people they have worked with. I am deeply passionate about dermatology, a speciality in which its ailments carry a unique psychosocial burden and necessitate treatments that require medical and procedural expertise of the highest order. I worked diligently to acquire dermatological skills during my years as a medical registrar at Wellington Hospital, which surprisingly, lacks a dedicated dermatology department. My goal after completing dermatology training is to return to Wellington Hospital and foster a consistent public department to serve a community with this need. With this in mind, the focus of my first three years as a dermatology trainee has been laying the foundations to become a well-rounded dermatologist. I am particularly interested in medical dermatology and find the management of autoinflammatory conditions fascinating and engaging. My wealth of experience has prepared me for the unique challenge of one day practising dermatology in the context of specialist staff shortages, coupled with a high public demand and ever-increasing rates of skin cancer.
