Poipoia te kakano kia puawai: Nurture the seed, and it will blossom.
My Why
Whakapapa: Connecting ākonga to their kura through a sense of belonging and ensuring that they are valued and respected within their classroom environment by providing the best version of myself and allowing them the opportunity to succeed through affirmation.
Turanagawaewae: Empowering and connecting ākonga. Tamariki are taonga and deserve to be respected through showing ethical just (pono) to their cultural identities.
Mana Motuhake: Encouraging self-determination within the ākonga. My role is to encourage ākonga to value their independence and take control of their learning with positive incitement and assistance from myself.
Whanaungatanga: Forming relationships with whānau and ākonga. Encouraging whānau involvement and including them in the ākonga's learning journey through open communication and making myself available when needed. Understanding that whānau voice, culture, language, and identities improve ākonga success. My role as a kaiako is to know my learners and develop teaching pedagogy to lift them as learners.
