I am a first year university student studying at The University of Canterbury, doing a Bachelor in Sports Coaching, double Majoring in Sports Science and Strength and Conditions with Nutrition while Minoring in Education. I come from way up north, 30 minutes north of Whangarei and have recently moved to Christchurch to further my studies. I am a fun loving, out going, bubbly personality and eager to give anything and everything a go. I am eager to return to work as the position I hold at Burger Fuel is now casual and something for me to continue when I return home. I am an aspiring sports player representing my home region across multiple codes. I have a passion for people and doing anything I can to make their day a little bit better, wether this be my close friends or someone I’ve never meet before. I appreciate being able to work with a wide range of people and being able to engage through different context and through similarities.
Throughout my time working at Burger Fuel Whangarei, I was able to learn and develop Skills I have previously learnt swell as develop new skills. I was an engaging member of the team working hard to ensure a positive working environment, forming connections with a wide range of people. I worked around people to ensure we could get the job done to the best of our abilities while also doing it with pace, this required lots of communication throughout the production line to be able to execute this. I have developed high standers for customer satisfaction due to this job helping to motivate me to get my best work out all the time. This job also helped to further develop my love for people and putting customers wants and needs first. One aspect of my job was being in charge of grilled meats to meet customer specifications. This included cooking chicken, bacon, beef and fish ect. This helped my with being extra picky and a perfectionist double checking each piece of meat before it was passed through. Within this job I was also able to pick up shift, come in early and leave late in order to help out the rest of the team and meet the business needs. As I worked here throughout the on-going pandemic I was able to show patience with both the our customers and my team as we all had to learn the new way of life, I also loved being able to provide a smile for the customers to be greeted with. One thing I enjoyed about this job was how much communication we had with our customers, advising them with the menu, answering any questions they had and encouraging them to add additional items I would recommend.
I have been brought up on a working dairy farm and am expected to participate in helping with all farming activity as part of our family culture. This requires being trusted with animals and being a reliable worker. This roll has included being left alone with any given task for example rearing calves, field work and cleaning up. This has taught me the importance of work ethic, reliability and effective time management. I have also learn to be apart of a team and also to be left to work independently. It has helped me to take responsibility for my own health and safety, both being careful and identifying hazards. I have had to be adaptable and be prepared to have a go at whatever job is being asked of me.
As part of the Benny Boys Burgers team I was required to do many tasks. This ranges from doing dishes, building the burgers, running the deep fryer and front of house. I was a reliable and consistent worker always putting customer service at the top of my list. Within these tasks I was required to work in a team, problem solve, communicate effectively and most of all produce some good quality food. I can be trusted being left alone and getting the job done. I was always on time showing up with a smile on my face ready to work no matter what had gone on elsewhere. I have developed a quiet confidence when interfacing with the public, working hard to make sure every customers experience is a positive one. I have the ability to think quickly on my feet and adapt to whats happening around me. I’m a hard worker with a level head that has proven to be able to keep working even when the pressure is sustained.
Some skills I have been able to develop and learn through my previous jobs include but are not limited to…
