Kia Ora, I'm Elly.
Born in Ōpunake, Taranaki, and raised on a dairy farm. I am currently studying through Victoria University of Wellington by distance. Last year I moved to Wellington to pursue a tertiary education but struggled to settle in to the city as it just didn't compare to home. So, i made the move home after the first semester and began my online study journey of a Bachelor of Science Majoring in Psychology and Criminology as well as minoring in Māori studies, which as of yesterday, i am officially half-way through! My future career goal is to work in counselling, particularly with youth and provide a holistic approach to mental health and wellbeing, as well as fulfilling my most important life goal of becoming a Mum! I am an empathetic and caring person, sometimes too caring that i lose the ability to promote my own self-care which is something i am actively working on! I am grounded and enjoy helping others at times of loss, struggle and just navigating everyday life. I spend alot of time with my young cousins and hope that I am a good role model for them. I am currently working as an alcohol merchandiser for LION NZ part-time. It is a good flexible gig that works in around my study, but i am looking to also get into a job that is more aligned with my career goals and my interests, hence this application. Recently I have started training for a half-marathon which has been one of the most mentally and physically challenging tasks that i have ever come across. However, once i commit to something, I am all in. I hope that i can positively impact others lives and help them to overcome their own mental and physical challenges that life brings.
