I’m a confident, compassionate, and hardworking 17-year-old currently in Year 13 at Sacred Heart Girls’ College, with a strong passion for helping others and a clear goal of becoming a registered nurse. I’m excited to apply for a part-time position as a Public Healthcare Assistant, where I can begin making a meaningful contribution to the wellbeing of others while gaining valuable experience in the healthcare field.
Through my school, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to shadow a registered nurse at Base Hospital, which deepened my desire to work in healthcare. I’m also currently working toward my Health and Wellbeing Certificate through the Gateway programme, further building my understanding of patient care and the importance of compassion, attention to detail, and effective communication in a healthcare setting.
My previous role at Subway helped me develop strong interpersonal and customer service skills, which I believe are directly transferable to healthcare—especially when interacting with patients face-to-face. I love meeting new people and have a natural ability to make others feel comfortable and supported, which is essential in any care-based role.
As a boarding student, I’ve learned how to work well with a diverse range of people, manage responsibilities independently, and stay organized under pressure. I’m reliable, quick to learn, and always willing to go the extra mile to help a team reach its goal. I'm eager to continue growing both personally and professionally in a role where I can make a real difference in people’s lives.
Becoming a nurse is not just a career goal for me. I’ve always had a strong desire to help others, and the more I’ve learned about nursing, the more certain I am that it’s the right path for me. Supporting people through vulnerable moments, offering comfort, and making a real difference in someone’s day is something I find incredibly meaningful.
This Public Healthcare Assistant role represents the perfect first step on that journey. It would allow me to gain hands-on experience in a healthcare environment, learn from trained professionals, and build the practical skills and emotional understanding needed in patient care. I’m eager to learn, committed to giving my best, and genuinely excited about the opportunity to support both patients and healthcare staff in any way I can.
