Nursing Philosophy Statement

My passion is working in mental health rehabilitation and recovery. I thrive when working alongside an experienced and resolute multidisciplinary team. I believe in person centred-care and delivering trauma informed care. I strive to be an advocate for the consumers/tāngata whaiora; to see them and to hear them. Respect, empathy, safety and kindness together with up to date medical knowledge and various holistic health care models is how I endeavour to practice nursing. I have knowledge of Te Tiriti O Waitangi and incorporate it into my nursing practice. I believe that receiving compassionate care when you need it the most, is powerful and healing, and as a registered nurse it is a honour for me to be able to provide this to consumers.
