Due to the COVID-19 pandemic I worked with Odyssey house for the entire length of my placement. My team was spread across Christchurch Mens Prison and Mens residential.

• Case managed approximately 4 to 5 residential clients at one time. Providing weekly one-on-one counseling sessions, and check-ins as needed.
• Facilitated daily psychoeducation and relapse prevention groups, utilising session plans designed by myself and the wider team.
• Confidently practiced models such as CBT, ACT, SFBT, and MI.
• Attending external appointments with Kainga in an advocacy capacity.

• Developed course plans for students based on individual ability and academic goals.
• Providing holistic pastoral support, with a focus on personal well-being.
• Public speaking in a lecture theater setting, specifically introducing and advertising the role and team.

• Worked collaboratively within a large medical MDT to effectively case-manage and organise patient care.
• Supported safe discharges for patients experiencing physical and mental health crises.
• Practiced under frameworks such as Te Whare Tapa Whā and Fonofale. Ensuring mana-enhancing and culturally competent practice.
• Worked daily with external organizations such as ACC, OT, and Housing First to explore funding pathways and aftercare for patients.

Fixed-term, casual role, started while on a career break from social work. Upon learning we were expecting our first child, this work became full-time.
