• East Pack is a kiwifruit producer that stores and sends out kiwifruit to the world.
• I learned high standards of food awareness and safety, and was able to practice this every day.
• Excelled in forklift operating on multiple scales, learning to operate forklifts such as bin tip forklifts and double long forks, carrying up to 16 empty bins, stacking in trucks and in yards for warehouse purposes. All the kiwi fruit bins are stacked inside Confined Atmosphere rooms, where I later carry out the task of entering these rooms and taking samples from the listed bins.
• Being one of three gas testing holders at East Pack meant I was to ensure the safety of all our equipment, and making sure our gear was packed away, oxygen bottles were refilled, and gear was safely ready for the next use.
• At East, there are a variety of different cultures of people, so learning new people skills and team member skills was a natural pickup.

Throughout my short time as a cool store builder, I have done mostly jobs based in food production, such as East Pack in Te Puke or Open Country Milk in Waharoa, so I've learned a lot about food safety and how to be hygienic while doing construction. The cool store building is also just a lot of teamwork Mahi, and extremely physical, so being able to keep the morale high is something you naturally pick up on here.

• Followed build procedures and work instructions to construct varied-size structures.
• Assisted in the demolition and removal of existing structures.
• Reported equipment maintenance needs, injuries or mishaps to facilitate follow-up.
• Repairing existing cool store panels.
• Cut openings for electrical outlets in walls using power saws.
• Transported materials to or from designated areas using hand truck, electric dolly or forklift.
• Repaired and renovated existing structures as needed.
• Gained independent working skills and guided and mentored less experienced team members.
• Signaled equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement or adjustment of machinery.

Throughout my time working at Max Constructions, I gained experience in jobs such as:

• Help dog cranes and communicate with the team to place beams and other heavy equipment.
• The building and manufacturing of concrete boxing.
• Earthworks setting, gravel heights, and ensuring we maintain certain standards.
• I would carry out all civil-related tasks on a day-to-day basis.
• Use of power tools and hard hand tools on a daily basis.
