I joined Starfish Consulting in September 2023 as a Resource Manager, where my main responsibility was to source quality candidates for the Client Manager’s in the Digital Transformation (DT) team. After only 4 months in the role, I was promoted to Client Manager in the DT team, the fastest promotion in Starfish history.

My current role as a Client Manager is essentially to perform as both an account manager and a recruitment consultant, across the core capabilities of Data, Security, Architecture, Testing, Infrastructure, and Development.


Responsibilities

  • Partner with clients to identify resourcing constraints, develop talent pools and deliver outcomes by offering recruitment and consulting services.
  • Daily business development and cold calling with new and existing clients.
  • CSO/ SoW outcome based recruitment services.
  • Managing the recruitment process from end to end, including working with the client to take job briefs along with providing marketing insights and development of recruitment and marketing strategies.
  • Build and maintain a client portfolio of 350+ contacts with 80% quarterly coverage.
  • This included market mapping, advertising job openings through the company network and various job seeker platforms/social media sites, sourcing suitable candidates, conducting interviews, and extending offers.
  • Overseeing and managing the on-boarding process, ensuring all the relevant processes and employment checks have been completed in order for the formal contract to be issued in coordination with the client.
  • Contribute to the talent acquisition strategy and provide insights on candidate attraction.
  • Deliver regular market updates on recruitment trends to both clients and internal senior management.
  • Attendance and participation at weekly company stand-ups, including providing market insight to the team. This also included attending recruitment networking events.
  • Tools / Systems: Bullhorn, Microsoft, Seek, LinkedIn Recruiter, Adobe suite and Canva.


Achievements.

  • Scaled quickly in 3 months, to then average $27k in monthly billings in a difficult market.
  • Built a successful desk which included signing terms with new clients such as KPMG, Keyhook, and Bluecurrent.
  • Reignited relationships in cold accounts including Spark, CoreLogic, Education Payroll, and NZ Police.
  • Maintained and grew the client-base in core accounts such as DIA, MOE, Health NZ, and MSD.
  • Made placements across 15+ organisations ranging from public sector to scaling startups and vendors (contract and permanent).
  • Co-hosted the Wellington Architect Forum event every month, which included finding a keynote speaker to share market insights and trends, and organising on average 50 attendees.

In my role at Verifone, I sold payment solutions. This included online payment gateways, invoicing software, and Eftpos terminals. My clients were a wide range of SME businesses all over New Zealand, new and existing.
